History

On September 10, 1861, Andrew and Elizabeth Matthes left Russellville, Indiana with their family. The land that would be settled by Andrew and Elizabeth was owned by John W. Hunt in 1854, and the map was dated 1866 (from richlandhistory.org) but that has an inconsistancy with leaving Indiana in 1861.

This is the earliest map I can find with the Matthes or Van Fleet (Van Fleit) names in it. Note that in the winter of 62/63 Andrew passed away.
